I’m Jack Chun Kit Ng, usually Jack. I’m from Hong Kong and now live in Perth.

I spent more than a decade in audit and corporate finance. I started in Corporate Audit at KPMG Hong Kong, then joined Oriental Patron Asia Limited, where I worked on due diligence, capital markets transactions, and debt restructurings. My final role was Director, Corporate Finance and Responsible Officer.

The work taught me to structure for the dispute, not only the closing. Obligations will be tested, documents may be read by people who were not in the room, and an unsupported explanation rarely becomes better after more documents are placed around it.

Why technology

I once tried to originate an advisory engagement for an alternative credit-scoring business. I could discuss the financing model, prepare the deck, and bring people into the room. I could not independently tell whether the claimed technology had actually been built. No money was lost, but time and other people’s attention were.

I began learning Python and SQL, then built small tools with AI-assisted development. One early workflow took a scanned invoice through on-device OCR, converted the result into structured data, and pushed it into an accounting system. The workflow worked; much of the software beneath it remained unclear to me.

In 2026 I began the Master of Information Technology at the University of Western Australia, majoring in Artificial Intelligence. I am studying the subject formally because useful outputs are not the same as understanding the system that produced them.

I write about transactions under stress, applied AI, tools built around real workflows, and ideas I decided not to pursue. The projects are practical rather than proofs that I am a software engineer. The reasoning, limits, and failures are part of the record.
